Old mates unite once again on the third ceremony of Friendship for Life.

With majestic weather, we were honoured by Australian forces from the 3rd and 4th battalion, veterans and the local community to commemorate all soldiers who fell during Gallipoli.

A special tribute was introduced for the late Ray Wetherall O.A.M as well as the Friendship for Life flag; representing this ceremony and all humanity. It was received with admiration by guests.

The community was proud to have The Wollongong Harmony Chorus singing the Australian and Turkish national anthems and the City of Wollongong Brass Band assisting with its melodies.

Prayers were exchanged and wreaths were laid for those that have gone before us...

Lest We Forget...

Attendances included Noreen Hay MP on behalf of the NSW Premier Morris Iemma, Vice Consul Dr. Mustafa Bas on behalf of the Turkish Consul General Nihat Ersen, President of the NSW Turkish RSL sub-branch Aytuner Akbas, Karen Fierravanti on behalf of the Liberal Senator for New South Wales; Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Sarah Hafez on behalf of Jennie George MP, Councilor Zeki Esen and Terry Wetherall (President Illawarra Business Chamber) and family.
